Job Summary:
The On-Demand Video/Over-the-Phone Interpreter will be responsible for providing accurate and timely interpretation services to clients in a variety of settings. This position will primarily involve interpreting over the phone or via video conferencing software, and may require the interpreter to work in a fast-paced, on-demand environment. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in interpretation, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services over the phone or via video conferencing software
- Interpret conversations and communications between clients and various parties, such as doctors, lawyers, and government officials
- Assist clients with language barriers during important appointments, meetings, or events
- Ensure that interpretation services are delivered accurately and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with colleagues to provide high-quality interpretation services
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
- Manage scheduling and administrative tasks as necessary
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and at least one other language (Spanish, Mandarin, French, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven ability to provide accurate interpretation services in a fast-paced, on-demand environment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Experience with interpreting over the phone or via video conferencing software
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Familiarity with medical, legal, or government terminology is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in interpretation, translation, or a related field is preferred
